Pre-intermediate A2 reading: An email from Carlos.
Read the following email from Carlos and then answer the questions below.
‘Hi Diego,
How are you? It has been a long time since we have spoken. I miss you. I hope you are well my friend!
How is everything in Spain?
I have been in London for 3 months now. At first I did not like it a lot. The weather was cold and the city was very big.
Now however I really like it and have got used to it.
In the beginning of my English course I didn’t understand the teacher very well. For me he was speaking very fast, but now
I understand everything he says. Of course my class mates are very easy to understand as they speak clearly. They are from different countries like me, for example Italy, Brazil, Japan and other places.
The food here in England is ‘OK’, not fantastic but still I go to the shops and buy food and cook. I have a nice host family. The family is a mother and her son. I speak to them every evening at dinner time and they are friendly. I ask them questions about England and London.
I will spend another 3 more months in London to improve my English so that I can get a good job back in Spain. However I may even look for work outside Spain e.g. in America, Germany, Australia etc.
Have a great day and say hi to your family for me.
Take care!
Carlos.’
