8 April 20238 April 2023 Water is one of the most indispensable elements that we need in our lives. Without it human existence is simply not impossible. However we often take it for granted and do not fully realise its importance and value. The majority of the earth's surface is water in fact. Not only the oceans such as the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans but also inland seas and lakes such as the Caspian sea or the Black sea. We need water for so many different reasons. It is required for cleaning. Without it we cannot clean our bodies or our houses, so it is essential for sanitation and hygiene, otherwise we would be unclean and dirt and disease would spread. We need it for cooking, including for boiling and steaming ingredients as well as pouring water-based liquids in to some of our dishes whilst we are cooking them. However water is becoming more and more scarce in some parts of the world. As the global population expands so does the usage of water. Some are worried that competition over water could even lead to wars between different countries. In times of crisis in some countries people stock up on water bottles out of fear that tap water may stop or may not be enough. Imagine life with less water or even a complete lack of water! So the next time that you turn on your tap remember water is very important and there are even people who half to walk for half an hour just to get water from a well.
